Matthew 25:36 “… I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room.”

“When I see people on the street and in vulnerable situations, I feel like I have to do something.

There is simply too much in society that is unjust. And I have been blessed with a great life and been given much, and so I have the need to give back to others, to encourage and uplift them. I am very grateful to be able to have an open door into peoples lives through the Night Shelter. I am always shown respect and welcomed by our Clients, who truly are from all walks of life.

We wouldn’t like to admit it, but for many of us, just a few wrong turns would have put us in the same position.”

Jo Swart, Honorary Chairperson

“A great number of people have never been exposed to what the people in the Night Shelter has been exposed to!

About five years ago I started working in an area where I was able to see what really is going on in the world out there and what other people have to deal with every day. It is only then that one realizes how fortunate we are to have what we have! A family to love, a roof over our heads, health, and so much more.

I love helping out and giving time to organizations, using the talents that God gave me. My contribution might not feel as if it is a lot in the beginning but looking back to see how The Night Shelter has grown and developed, makes my heart happy and this only inspires me to do more and become even more involved.

The Night Shelter is experiencing tremendous growth, with a lot of exiting projects to be launched during 2012 which will add value to these homeless people, giving them an exit plan, a plan for income generation, and hope again.”
